On the dual amputation...I would say that the flack your getting about it is just normal. When I first read that previously in this thread, my natural reaction was: "NO!!!!!"

It's hard for us people who have use of our limbs to imagine NOT having them. So it's hard for me to wrap my mind around it. But you know what's best for you. And after I sat here and gave it some thought I realized that "yes" it would probably be much easier on you to have them out of your way.

Damn that sounded strange...but I suppose it's true.

The only worry I would have for you is that something can always go wrong in any surgery. And that is a damn major one for sure. So give it lots of thought first (though I know you already have)

I just get a whole bunch of "hope you really thought about this" or "I would think about that before doing it", both is sort of a no shit answer and is really like WTF who would just rush in and do something like that without giving it serious thought before even bringing it up with anyone.

Was not like a 1 month, hell a year is laughable thought processes and thinking about all of it. Have given in much though over the course of several years before I even spoke to anyone about it. Then I gave my wife a bit over a year of her knowing my thoughts and getting hers before other relatives were even spoken too.

I know for most the idea of just giving up a limb, hell even a small appendage like a toe would be on the insane side - if it was not a medical necessity at least. I also know there are some that really do cling to the ideas that people can eventually be "fixed" or whatnot. That medical technology has advanced, strong results in stem cells, so forth. Realistically that will not be for my generation of the paralyzed, yet the very near futures - oddly I may be in the group of a last of something, never gave that much thought.

I also need to check with university and such to see if any use can be gotten from the parts. Well I know skin is always in high demand, but not sure about anything else on it. Wonder if someone transplanted a paralyzed toe onto a non paralyzed person, would it remain so since my damage was done at the spinal level? OK sorry people - that is some of the shit my mind randomly thinks about.

PS if airlines charge people who weigh more for tickets, can I get a discount or perhaps some extra lbs in baggage since I would be a super light passenger?
