At least 14 polo horses, worth as much as $1.5 million, collapsed and died Sunday, just before competition at the U.S. Open polo tournament in Wellington.

Unconfirmed reports put the number of dead horses at more than 30.

I live in the area and those people are serious about there equine events.

I was there yesterday, a beautiful day that went really grim. It was very shocking. The highlight was seeing all the people get together and lend a hand when the horses started dropping.

The Sun Sentinel is jumping the gun a bit. The vets who were working on the horses did not want to speculate on anything. They are still waiting back on results from the autopsies.
