While I agree with some points, it makes me wonder how you can say he prematurely asked for donations without knowing exactly what the medical expenses were.
You raised money for the Ray Guhn defense team, without even knowing what their expenses were going to be, and without knowing even if they really needed money.
I know I'm talking apples and oranges here comparing the two, but at the root, the two are still the same as far as asking for money before you even know anything about anything.
I'm also not saying donations to Ray Guhn was wrong, just how can you say one is and not the other?Comment

Well for starters, you honestly know nothing about the due diligence that I did before I decided to start a fundraiser. Believe me, I wouldn't have put myself out there without looking into things thoroughly before hand, and having an educated expectation of what lay ahead for their case.
Secondly, it didn't go directly into anyone's pocket, it went into a legal defense fund that was started by their legal staff. The money that went into that fund has restrictions on it, and it can only be used for the stated purpose it was donated. I wouldn't have helped raise money if the final check had been destine for someone's personal bank account.
Finally, I didn't raise money to help defend "them". There's an important legal question being raised by this case, that could effect the vast majority of people in the adult industry. If that potential precedent wasn't in play, I wouldn't have helped raise the money.
In short, the money raised was to help defend our industry as a whole, went into a "fund" not a personal account, and was for a case whose costs were estimated by a staff of legal experts.Comment

Dude, you don't have to say any I'm sorries for asking for help to save your childs life. You don't need any more stress than you already have and it really pisses me off that someone would make a thread whining about this.Originally posted by NoCarrierBoyAlley,
I understand your point and completely agree. We received news so fast that I didn't know where to start. I should've waited before sending a help signal. The money I've received to far will be used for the next couple of months. There will only be one revenue in this house and it's from me. Unfortunately, I am not a millionaire. But if you guys decide to send the "sig" money to a charity foundation instead, I will also understand. And about the "loan". If I decide to take it, I would have to reimburse it over the years.
I really didn't want to play with everyone's feelings. Mine are quite on the edge right now.
People have a free choice to donate or not.
Why someone would start a whiney bitch thread knowing that it's going to attract negative attention is uncalled for IMO.
I'd think differently if it was for rent or beer money but this is to save a childs life.Comment

This isn't about saving a child's life. He's getting 100% free healthcare for his child. ZERO COST MEDICAL CARE. He needs NO money to pay for medical treatment. His son will be cared for.
Why would a thread like this "piss you off"? I also think it's a bit of a stretch to characterize my original post as "whining"?

I read your whole post and yes you were being as diplomatic as possible. But answer me this: What is the exact purpose of your thread? Tell me?
There is never enough money for the "working man" when you have problems like this in your life. Especially when you go from 2 to 1 paycheck for a houshold. There are always things that can be bought that are not covered here and there. Specialist doctors, second opinions, special medicines, etc etc, that may not be covered. You don't know. There are always extra things that need to be paid for.
Relying on government agencies or commercial charities are ok too but sometimes the help they give is not enough.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Ever heard that before?

When I read that thread yesterday, my heart sunk. Anything dealing with kids is very difficult for me. Yet I agree 100% with BoyAlley.
A couple of months ago my just-turned 4-year-old son was diagnosed with Autism. I am a single father...it's just he and I. If you know anything about the mystery of Autism, you know it DESTROYS families financially and there is no "end-game" -- theoretically this will be a lifelong challenge...and not a life cut short. Yet, I kept a cool head...was extremely grateful I have Insurance that I buy outside of any employ (now that my son has been diagnosed, he is uninsurable - PERIOD...but his current insurance cannot be cancelled as long as I keep the premiums paid). And, I am extraordinarily fortunate to be capable of a very good living without having to punch anyone else's clock. Yes, this will cause my income to drop -- significantly...but i am resourceful and will always be fine.
The only true downfall is I am now 'prisoner' in the location (state) I am living. I have an insurance that is specific to Florida (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida) -- it is NOT transferable if we were to move out of state...and all my extended family lives up north..and believe me...I now desperately NEED the support (time, helping hand) of extended family.
At least we are trapped in paradise!
While I am not implying in any way that my circumstances mirror NoCarriers...my heart is broken over his plight...but if you can take some time, take a deep breath...seek out answers...get informed...find your inner strength...you will find a way to get through even this. GFY shouldn't be your first port-of-call when tragedy strikes...calm council and introspection should be.
I will be following your son's situation and be praying for a wonderful outcome.ICQ: 148.167.599Comment

If 'people are criticizing you" in private, then take it private.
To use a horrible personal tragedy as an excuse to start an attention grabbing thread and get your name out there is fucking sickening.
And thats what youre doing with your little "teh boy alley" shit in the title.
Why do you have to do your comic "I am teh boy alley and the boy alley thinks this..." routine when this poor father is in a tailspin over his sons life?
Making a thread about why youre not participating is pretty low class when theres another thread where people are raising money in their sigs.
Youre just competing for attention which is what you were crying about a month ago with Epic cash competing with your sig auction.
Why don't you go back to your little "My boyfriend fucks me and I love it, fuck you breeders" court jester threads that your fans eat up and leave your opinions of peoples personal tragedies involving their children out of your topic subjects.Comment

no one should be giving anyone shit if they donate or not, thats a personal choice. boyalley has the right to raise money for whatever cost he sees fit. although, its hard for me to not think about the ray guhn thing. the guy knowingly breaks the law and makes millions each year why does he need our help more so than nocarrier, even if nocarrier doesn't have 100's of thousands of medical bills?Originally posted by AlkyI'm also not saying donations to Ray Guhn was wrong, just how can you say one is and not the other?you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..Comment

Out of all the bullshit that has gone on here THIS is the subject you choose to make a point about? As was already stated, it's nobodies business but those involved and some opinions are better left unspoken.
If anyone that donated changed their mind given new information it is on THEM to ask for their money back. Live and let live or something.

I think if people want to give him money and support him they shold do so, it is someone they know, he's been a regular poster here for years .
Even if they get free treatment, having a sick child is hard enough, one parent can't work and the other one probably can't focus as much on his work.
Personally I prefer to give to something like this than some 'non-profit' organization that ends up spending 70% of your money on offices, fancy cars and ads to raise even more money and hiring more staff than using the money they get to do somethign good.Comment

Most major charities have overhead of 10% or even less, and make sure money goes where it is needed most, for the purposes that the donors originally intended.
NoCarrier will have zero medical bills, and will be getting a pay-day from this industry in the tens of thousands of dollars. What do you think he'll be spending all of that money on?
There are families out there that need real help.Comment

I'm the same. I give money to a charity that sends pen-pal letters to sick kids and tries to lift their spirits. Theyre so legit they said that they'd prefer people donate postage stamps and writing materials instead of money, and they need stamps the most.Originally posted by GunniI think if people want to give him money and support him they shold do so, it is someone they know, he's been a regular poster here for years .

Then I know what I donate is going right to the people who need it.
If I gave money to a big charity its going to go into administration.
A few years ago I gave $35 only once to a large charity and they keep sending me large color mailings asking for more. They must have burned through the $35 I sent and my money never got to people who needed it.Comment

very rational and you make it very clear why you do not see as a case where you wan't to donate money. You do however also state that you are not against people who like to donate.

The reason why you for once agree on something is because you think the same way.
You both get jaulous and your ass starts to hurt when you find out someone is collecting money and it's not you.
You're both thinking:
I am whoring my ass of and I don't even make this kind of money in a year should he really get it just because he has a sick child and the circumstances are not even clear.

Ya I agree and with words of the other scam that's being associated it makes you wonder.. However, there are a lot of proceedures that aren't available in Canada and require people to go to other countries for them, oftentimes they aren't covered if they aren't on the "approved" list for the medical coverage in some provinces. My mother requires surgery on her spine, but they don't do it in Canada, and they won't pay for her to go to Germany (the only doctor who does the type of surgery she needs is there, it's a new technology) to have the proceedure done. She doesn't have $150k to spend on the trip and proceedure and neither do I.. her only other options now are to wait for similar treatments to arrive here (which will be at least 5-10 years), try to cope in the meantime, but the pretty certain eventuality is she will be in a wheelchair before they could ever help her. No system is perfect. I just sincerely hope that things here work themselves out and that the only problems there really are are misunderstandings.Originally posted by NoWhErEI gotta take Boy Alley's side here.
First of all, I know it wouldn't be below GFY to start up a fake "I need money" thread cause it has happened before. I'm not saying that NoCarrier is scamming us, I'm saying that I'm weary of such stories from the get go.
Second of all, being Canadian, I was dumbfounded by the fact that the Canadian Govt "couldn't do anything". In my experience, they will do anything they can to help you, granted they might put you on a long ass waiting list, but they WILL help you no matter what. I don't blame NoCarrier in any way, god I hope his child pulls through. But I also know what great waves of emotion can do to our sense of reason and the devastating effect it can have when its over and you realize that you got people to give you so much money when, in fact, you didn't really need it.
Anyhow, all I wanted to say is that I agree with BoyAlley. I held back on giving money to see how the story might develop and in fact, it did develop the way I thought it would.
I wish Sammuel the best of luck and a long healthy life.Comment
