    computers killed your night vision?

    after years of staring at a computer screen I am slowly becoming more and more near sighted. The optometrist also said extended computer use will kill your night vision. Wow he was right, i used to have amazing sight and my night vision was top notch. Now driving I have a hard time seeing anything at night and if it rains I am fucked, ithe roads are all slick and blend in together, can't even see the lines on the road cause the road is so shiny reflecting light from the street lamps.

    Anyone else in the same boat?

                  Yeah I am going blind slowly too. 2 x 24" Dells doesn't help.

                  I am thinking of going to a 45" LCD just so I can see!

                  Turn the brightness down as much as you can and have lots of amibent light I say.

                                              I did this a few years ago and it has helped considerably too!

                                              Also walking outside and focusing on distant objects not only gets you away from the computer but helps your eyes refocus

                                                      My eyes are going to shit as well... I have been working online for 6-7 years now and it's getting bad. I too had perfect vision and have never worn glasses or any corrective device but recently I applied for a new drivers license and noticed my eyes aren't as great as they once were. I hope taking an offline job will allow my eyes to recover a little and perhaps help me in the long term.

                                                              As much as possible.. I put my eyes away from the monitor for atleats a few minutes.. and look at somehting green .. it relaxes the eye muscles...

                                                                      to prevent eye strain, you should never work on a puter in the dark.
                                                                      The brightness of the screen should be more or less turned to the brightness of the room....

                                                                                              notice my eyes get tired a lot easier than they use to.. had lasik a bit over a year ago. the monitors arent as bad as the cold server room and extra circulation making them dry as hell.
