OMG, they just put up as a Fox Fact, "Chavez an Embarrassment to Venezuela"
They're going to get even more shrill as we get closer to the elections

Yes if Fox is doing this, they aren't being unbiased
And thats wrong for the news
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

The titles they have been putting under their "News Alerts" today would have been perfectly in place as titles on their Bill O'Reilly or Hannity & Colmes, etc. shows but as headlines for a live news event they were silly, petty and vindictive. Can you imagine if one of the major networks had used such titles in their coverage of today's events? There would be quite a stink.

As a footnote - I've never watched 1 second of fox news, Im canadian.
I meant that media shouln't express opinion, should only give out facts. People should make descisions by themselves.
Besides, it is bad for media, because people who have diffrent oponion concerning Chavez wouldn't like and even trust this source any more.

I see no problem with the media expressing opinion, as long as they don't label it "news"

One said, "Hugos Cheap Oil: A Cheap Trick On the US?", another said, "Should we stop buying Chavez' Citgo Gas?" which apparently they realized was misleading so they updated that one to say, "Should We Stop Buying Chavez' Gas from Citgo Stations?".

Now while the President of Iran is holding his press conference the title says,
"Axis of Evil Leader" Briefs Reporters at United Nations".

These are titles more fitting for an OpEd Website or publication, not a channel that claims to be a fair and balanced news source.
lol, no doubt... that's rediculous. I watch cnn, it's much better.

It is probably the rolling headline for the story of Charlie Rangel's comments blasting Chavez. Rangel is a big liberal Democrat. Go to Drudge. Running the same story.

They never advertised themselves as that. They are more entertainment than news usually, but I have never seen them insert opinions as news titles with the callousness that Fox News did this morning.

News should be about informing, not tit for tat. They have all the right in the world to engage in tit for tat if they wish, but should expect people to call them out on it if they label it as news... as I did.

Cavuto is the one that trashed everyone who was against the war. Now he is the one with egg on his face.

The funny thing is that if you went to Fox News and walked around their offices where the regular workers are, you'd find that a majority of the people are liberals. Why? Because most of your journalistic community is left leaning. I'm not bashing them, it's just the nature of the world. The difference being that they are told from the top what stories and such to run. It's not so much news at it is entertainment. They run the stories they are told to.

With that said, it is hard to deny their bias, just look at this article that shows memos they handed out before they went on the air:

                                          http://mediamatters.org/items/200407140002

As for their following, it can be attributed to a lot of different things. Whether we like it or not, they did revolutionize cable news. They came out with the shiney graphics, sound effects, controversial guests, and over-the-top news breaks. They also invested nearly a billion dollars to buy their way on to people's cable networks ($5-$10 a viewer) until their popularity rose. They have a large audience also because the right tends to need to connect to personalities like that more. Just listen to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannitty, etc and hear the intelligence level of their viewers during call-ins. You aren't exactly dealing with the highest levels of intelligence in the world. It's easier to herd dumb sheep than smart sheep.

I wouldn't go that far. Chavez has oil, and that's the only reason any country bothers to give him the time of day. He also has a growing opposition in his country and could eventually be ousted if he continues to fuck over his people.

Charlie Rangel was not pushing for legislation, he was asking the Jerk for some respect of our President. Chavez called Bush the Devil. That is his opinion. Rangel's opinion is, you ought to show some respect when you are in our country. Big deal. Rangel has said worse about Bush himself.

I wasn't suggesting Rangel was pushing for legislation, I saw his remarks as saying free speech in America only applied to citizens. If that is so, then that should be legislation.

I admire Rangel for standing up for the president given their differences in philosophy but I disagree with him that only Americans can criticize Bush. If you disagree with that, then be consistent and don't criticize Chavez.

Just checked out the headlines on Fox now... Shit, if ever there was a total diatribe of bullshit - that's it

                                                    Typical main news stories are...

"Palestinian Government Will Recognize Israel, Abbas Says" - two paragraphs of yesterday news which was part of a speech by Abbas at the UN. (I think we found a new friend for the week in the Palestinian leadership - next week he'll be a terrorist collaborator.)

"Venezuela's Chavez Repeats 'Devil' Insult" - More "offense" and "insult-riddled speeches" with Pataki saying Chavez "can take his cheap oil and do something for the poor people of Venezuela." - I'm sure Pataki will personally ensure the "poor people" of the US will continue to get and be paid for by him.

"Should the U.S. Stop Funding the U.N.?" - But of course The UN is just an irritation to the US admin and an organization they want to continue controlling - better leave, Monday OK?

"Deal Reached on Detainee Treatment Bill" - Good news this time. The admin now have suitable words to play with in redefining the Geneva Convention to continue permitting imprisonment and torture as may be needed.

                                                    MEANWHILE....

Other news agencies are not carrying any of these stories as headlines... instead...

"Iraq torture 'worse after Saddam'" - Damn the UN again - it's another report from these nasty UN folks about further torture in Iraq (but chances are that will be "legal" according to US law)

"US 'threatened to bomb' Pakistan" - "The United States threatened to bomb Pakistan "back to the stone age" unless it joined the fight against al-Qaeda, President Pervez Musharraf says.

General Musharraf said the warning was delivered by former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage to Pakistan's intelligence director."

Somehow Fox never found the space on their website for these news pieces, but again, Fox is more a propaganda agency than a news agency
XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.
