Right on Ray! This is very big in Europe, and people do pay for it, and jerk off to it, I however have not. But, I have personally gone to the web to see more of a certain girl or clip that was sent to my phone by a friend many times. It's like viral marketing in a way, so I see what you mean. It will drive people to the regular site. Just make sure your URL is clear on the title or watermark. I hate when a clip is hot as hell and you don't know where to find it on the web.

I believe they use a lot of Internet cafés. that would explain why the phone downloads are big there. anyone with a phone can get porn in private. mobile will never be as big in the US because people can sit at their 20 inch LCD and watch porn in their house.

Gone are the days of shitty 96x65 resolution screens to encode video for. The 3g phones are now arriving with 320x240 pixel screens and above.

I thought along those lines also, but there's two factors. mpeg4 is made to be a much better format for the screens/os etc of a small digital device that vectorize calculations while viewing rather than flat rendering at a specific size regardless of resolution. also, Looking at a video rendered for a big screen on a small screen really sucks (change the img tag on a 640 width image to be width=80 and see what I mean). So you need the smaller renderings for the mobile devices or they just look bad.Originally posted by spacekadet

hey all, you all make great points........ and its awesome to see you all discussing Mobile.
For those that don't know me I am Jason from Funbox and we've been doing mobile for 4 years in Australia, USA, New Zealand and Europe and very successful.
The key ingredient to mobile is that its an extention of personality like shoes or the clothes you wear. We do far better and are far more profitable off 'soft' products than anyone is with Porn to mobile.
I think there will be a market for hardcore porn on mobile but you big dollars in my experience is with the lowest common denominator with a crap phone and at best he can get a picture and text messages. Give me a million of these guys joining my 'Babe of Day' service for $9.99 a month than 1,000 guys will great phones downloading a one porn pic once in a blue moon for a few dollars.
I always tell the porn community mobile is your "do you want fries with that" it can be a great cross sell and there are loads of products that can work.

Hey all, great points about mobile, all make great points!!
For those that don't know me, I'm Jason from Funbox. We have been doing mobile around the world for 4 years for Europe to Australia to USA and New Zealand.
Pretty much most products on mobile are a novelty, they are a 'personality' item like a pair of shoes or clothes. People buy them to express their individuality.
Let me tell you there is great money in mobile but my experience is there is more to be made in the 'soft' arena than the hardcore. Carriers around the world are much more on top of regulating than the internet obviously and thus create a lot ot hoops to jump through unlike the internet.
I always say when asked that mobile to the Adult industry is your "do you want fries with that" its a great little cross sell to maximise your traffic with little to no work if done with the right people.
Also deal with the lowest common denominator, I'd rather have a million guys with a crap phone that can at best handle pictures paying $9.99 a month and text then a 1,000 guys paying a few dollars every now and then that can down load clips.

For the sake of argument, lets assume mobile content produces minimal to almost no new members. Branding alone aside of course. Would I still have the mobile option for my sites? The answer is yes.
Many seem to have forgotten the business lesson of that it is ten times cheaper to keep an exsisting customer than to aquire a new one.
I would and do bend over backwards for my customers. I offer them as much as I can, I do not fuck them, and I sure in the hell do not mislead or lie to them. If by offering them mobile content that some may use, then why in the hell wouldnt I? Surely the cost of getting them encoded, is worth the 1-2 customers minimum it would retain.Comment
