Very nice, I just bought a new pad that has a dedicated theatre. Not looking forward to paying the bill to set it up. I spent about $50k on my previous one 5 years ago and apprently most of it is already "outdated"
LOL... $50k... Thats a drop in the bucket compared to what you spent on your other "home entertainment system" 5-7 years ago.......
I would like to setup a room in my house strictly as a home theatre, but for now I just have my 36 inch Sony TV (will be upgraded to a much bigger tv soon enough), a Denon AVR-3802 (plenty of power, but will upgrade to the bigger model later on), front speakers: 300watts Cerwin Vega LS-12, Rear surround and rear centers: 4 x 125watts Cerwin Vega vE-5M (for dolby digital 7.1/DTS 6.1), center: 150watts JBL EC25 Northridge, Sub: 150watts Cerwin Vega LW-12. All speakers will be upgraded eventually. I have all this setup in my living room. Not very theatre looking, but it does the job for now.
I like wood that looks like wood, and I was also born in the 70's so it suits me fine Just had it all done this past winter.
For the gear heads, Rotel RSX-1067, Denon DVD-3910, InFocus SP7210 projector and B&W speakers.
Just pullin' yer chain Dave. I'm not done with my theater just yet. The screen, DLP and audio was the first step, now I'm in the market for seating. When I get all the ducks in a row I'll take pics of that and post 'em here. My setup won't look all that different from yours.

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about that
Thx ADGWD, maybe we'll play something like that for the party instead of a scary movie. Hmmmm.............
Cool! Does that mean I'm invited?
Since I assume you are going to have music playing at the party, what might be cool to showcase your new big screen is to put together the best scenes of your favorite movies that look good on the big screen...a montage of sorts.
For example:
Wizard of Oz: Not in Kansas anymore...Good Witch, Bad Witch...flying monkeys...Oz uncovered...clicking ruby slippers...there's no place like home...
Next:
Sequence from 50's horror flicks: Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman...
Skip ahead to Rocky Horror Picture show, 2001: A SPace Oddessy, and ending with the car from Back to the Future (at least three back-to-back take-offs)...
Next: Car chase sequences...
Steve McQueen in "Bullit", followed by the "French Connection"...and more...up through "The Italian Job" etc., then, "Thelma and Louise" going over the cliff, ending with the smash-up ending of "Vanishing Point".
Then segue into "Great Moment in Sports" followed with sport bloopers...
Then, a sci-fi segment starting with 50's stuff like "The Blob", up through the "Psycho" shower scene, to the "Exorcist", to "The Shining" (here's johnny), etc...Freddy, Jason, Chainsaw, etc. (include boobies).
Then blast into outerspace effects with Star Wars, ET, Close Encounters, Alien, Terminator...
That might be fun instead of running 1-2 full length moviea. You have enough time between now and the party...as Belushi said in "Animal House" (and don't forget scenes from that movie)...let's do it!!!

That sounds like a great idea, cut something together and I will definitely play it throughout the party (and of course you're invited)!
