Companies that make it difficult to pay bills...

I've been trying to pay my gas bill online but the gas company does not allow it. They offer a credit card service, which they charge you three dollars per transaction, but that's about it. No instant debit from a checking account like most services offer.

So I'm thinking about it... and Wells Fargo pulls the same trick. You cannot pay your Wells Fargo bill from a non-Wells Fargo checking account online... you have to physically write them a check or visit their branch to pay your bill. That is actually the primary reason I no longer use my Wells Fargo credit card.

Makes you wonder... do they do this on purpose? On several occasions I got hit with finance charges and late fees from Wells Fargo because they received and processed my check (which I also think they purposely delay) after my payment date. Shady fucks.

Wamu fucked me over with all sorts of fee delays. They would hold clearing transactions for days, sometimes even 1+ weeks. Then WHAMMO everything would come out at 11:59 the day before my direct deposit went in and slammed me with 15 overdraft fees.

Since going to BofA I have not once had any issues of the sort. They show pending transactions as they are charged.

      Shady fucks.

        It's ridiculous.

I just paid my Sam's Club bill, my electric bill, my primary banks credit card bill, and my American Express bill all online. And yet Wells Fargo, one of the largest banks, doesn't have online bill pay. Crooks!

Oh, I forgot to mention... you can give them a call and they will then take your checking account information and pull a transaction, for a lovely fee of $10.

There was a big lawsuit on that. I think they were doing a lot of that as Providian, before change name/buy out by WaMu. But all the same, remember new story on the scammer crap.

Providian, haven't heard that name in a while. They were notorious for going after college kids very aggressively.

My electric and water companies don't have free online payment methods...

So i just log into my bank account and use the free online bill payment - so far no complaints. Every online bank should have a bill payment option by now.

Wells Fargo sounds like it sucks, with my bank you can do instant transfers to the credit card.

No no, you can't pay it with non-Wells Fargo checking accounts.

I fucking hate Wells Fargo. If you call in a payment they charge you $7 to process a check. Cant pay online, old snail mail check only. They seem to be stuck in the 70's..

Doh! Should have read more closely. I agree though, I have dealt with a couple of companies that make you jump through hoops to pay and it's ridiculous.

What gets me a bit pissed is the companies that charge you an extra fee for paying online?...I mean for what? it's all automated and they don't need any live person to peocess the payment? I think they should actually give you a small discount for paying online. It just doesn't make sense to me.

yeah my cable company just changed their login system so you have to have an email with them set up, and I don't use their stupid isp dot com email, and didn't have one set up.

So when I went to pay my bill this month online as I have been doing with them for years with my regular email login, I had to go through a bunch of customer service crap to get them to set me up an email account I will never use just to sign into their site and pay my bill. Stupid.

I doubt I will ever check the email account, it will probably be filled with their shitty spam or something.

Banks make so much money on fees from consumers. It is a large part of their overall business strategy.
