    (drama) Dedicated server ? NOT (shared fuck) !! Slow loading YES !!!

    Ok what would you do if you find out that you are paying for a dedicated server and you find out that you're not alone the on box ?

    Second, when you do some gallery posting, you get "download speed of the server too slow" and you go huh ??????????? Wtf i got plenty of room, what's this shit ???????

              sonuds like you ARE getting screwed. a way to find out is to tell them you want to reboot your server. if it IS yours they should do it, if they say "WE CANT" then your on a shared hosting platform.

                                                          dmesg - self evident
                                                          cat /etc/fstab (if any line starts with the word 'none', you're on a VPS_

                                                          if any of the fllowing commands give logical output, you're on a vps:

                                                          grep ^vzfs /proc/mounts
                                                          grep UML /proc/cpuinfo
                                                          /sbin/lspci | grep -i vmware

                                                                                  Although even a shared server should not slow down when you give it more load, the admin or host should factor bursts.

                                                                                              Why didn't they use rsync to do that ... 100 gigs is done easy in the day( site, db, mail, etc...), unless your new server is a turtle ....

                                                                                                      There are a 101+ reasons why your server could be sluggish as hell. It doesn't mean you're on a VPS, though that could be one.
                                                                                                      Have you had the NIC checked over? Is there a faulty router in teh DC? Have you checked /var/log/messages? checked through dmesg?
                                                                                                      Log a ticket with your ISP to give the box a once over explaining your problem. Or take Split_Neo up on his offer - he knows a box inside out and can tell you what you (don't?) want to know.

                                                                                                      If you're not proficient in server management, have someone that is help you understand your problem....

                                                                                                                                                                                  no, sorry - that 'none' means there is no mount point, because the disk partition ad0s1b is allocated to swap (disk memory). The line HAS to start with none, not /dev/etc.

                                                                                                                                                                                  It's unlikely you are on a VPS, since all those partitions belong to a dedicated disk - all yours. So, if it is a shared server or VPS, then it's one where you have your own disk. Unlikely.
