Montreal Police can't handle this, they are traffic enforcers, they aren't meant to handle crimes and these kinds of situations.

But Canada thinks that since they have (in my opinion, ridiculously tight) gun control this sort of crime will be impossible.

Well it does limit the availibility of guns in the streets and from 'accidents' from happening. It's not like we have a shooting at a college/university every couple of weeks like in the states.

Talked to my Mom and she is fine and evacuated. Apparently my sis called my Dad and said she was fine but could'nt talk because she was being evacuated. Still no word on my Aunt though

WHERE have you ever read that?? I remember reading we had emergency scenario training in cooperation with numerous agencies from the US which took place here. I'm not saying you're wrong but please show me where Montreal SWAT trains any other teams from other US cities. I find that very hard to believe because they have much more advanced equipment/training in the states.
