I am sorry to tell you but you have been ripped off .. This is the worse HDV camera from Sony with AWFUL results shooting without good light.
If you have an option to exchange it for this one do it right now
HDR-FX1 HDV
One of our studio got this cam for the test and it so lame product, I checked it myself, we end up using it as webcam from live studio

I bought that cam a couple of months back. I love it. I think if the price is right for you, grab it. If the biggest complaint is HD looks like ass in low light, my question is what kinda producer shoots where the lighting sucks?!?! LOL Get in the game! Buy lights. Become a PRO!

The only advantage of this cam is the size but hey look at this microphone its double size of the cam I was barking 2 weeks on the guy who bought it for me This cam should cost 1k usd and be an amateur cam for a family travel. But it designed well to trick people to buy it. The price difference with FX1 is about 1k, you cant imagine the difference in results.
