I didn't. I just said that the place I host my sites with needs and ICQ support.
I never implied they were sub-par. (You can post links to where you think i said it)
Why would they send me an email if the fucking ticket is sitting there, opened?
If you don't believe me about posting the truth, look at the screenshot. The only editing that I done to it was edit out the domain names.
If you trust Jim more, why don't you asked him to post his screenshots like he was threatening?Comment

Davey Jones I have never in 12+ years in biz got into any drama threads however you keep posting these 1/2 complete pics of the complete support ticket from start to finish with true and real accurate time stamps. Since you seem to like to just post the end why havent you posted the beginning which shows how the real ticket response went? Oh and you still have not called the office nor replied to several ICQ's As snake doctor mentioned you bashed on another great host recentally Nat Net for not even having icq support? and now you wont even use it, but rather start drama on gfy? Obviously you are not happy with us after just 1 day so since I gave you the month free just say the word and Ill kill the server?

Ok, please close this ticket.

Status changed to Closed
Ticket originally opened at 11:44
Assigned to Tech at 11:46 Thats 2 minutes
Original ticket completed at 12:24 thats about 40 mins open to close and the reason it took even that long is that the server was just released to you and you hadnt even been put into the support system yet so that was about 15 min s of internal paperwork.
Then at 2:50 you then decided that after we did what you wanted you would rather have it done differently. Well we dont use the @ symbol in a username.
Then well you can see the rest we offered you another option, and you said basically close the ticket.
At this point I can't really do anything for you.

That's wrong. I didn't bash it, I just said that I need ICQ support for the host.
Why would I call (overseas toll much? i don't feel like paying $5/minute) if there is a ticker system?
Why would I reply to ICQ if there is an open ticket in the system? I had a browser opened, i was constantly refreshing it, waiting for the reply. I don't even have ICQ installed on this laptop i'm currently working from.
Yeah it took you 3,5 hours to let me know that you can't do the "@" usernames.
You're right, i'm not happy with such support response times. And just did send you and email about closing my account.Comment

I wouldn't bitch if it was a $50 server, but at $300/month for an average 10mpst server I have a right to be picky.Comment

Why would someone need to be so anal retentive about their username for an email account anyways? You put it into your mail reader once (or save it in your browser once) and that's it.
If you can't understand the difference between a username login and the actual address people will send email to, that's not Techie's fault.
They have it setup that way because they have a dedicated mail server. They don't use resources on your server to process your email. That is to your advantage and you don't have to pay extra for it.
You're just a dick who loves GFY drama....and not having email accounts created fast enough or with usernames that have the characters you love is a pretty lame reason to try to start a GFY drama thread.sig too bigComment

I like to have everything set up neat. The logins they first gave me looked half assed. Why would someone need to be so anal retentive about their username for an email account anyways? You put it into your mail reader once (or save it in your browser once) and that's it.

Those logins would also be hard to remember. Sorry, but I want my business set up impeccably.
I can tell the difference. And I'm not blaming them for not being able to set it up their way. They have their own system figured out that works for them and I respect that.
The thing that turned me off was the bad ticket response time and the owner basically calling me a liar (and then posting his logs that show that I was actually right).
Fuck you.
1) I am a paying customer.
3) I never demanded anything outrageous. I was courteous in my communications.
2) And regarding the ticket response time (that took hours, read up the log Jim posted) - I have the right to expect premium service for paying premium price.
Basically, I made this thread when all hope was lost and I understood I wasn't going to host there.Comment
-
Holy shit... this thread is a trainwreck.
Not siding with Davey Jones but just how I read what Techie Media said, I don't think I'd be using them.
Not to mention I like the freedom of not having to rely on support for such simple tasks as creating an email address...Comment
-
Oh and the thing about ticket systems.
I asked NatNet if they had ICQ support. They said no, and they said that ticket support was much better. Everyone chimed in on that being the case too.
So I gave the ticket system a try. And it turned out to be a complete fail. First of all, going back and forth about the stuff I want and stuff they can't do. Second of all, it took them 3.5 hours to reply to me when I asked if the pop3 usernames could be set up they way I wanted.
So I'm still in favor of ICQ.Last edited by DarkJedi; 03-10-2009, 02:54 PM.Comment

I would be pissed too.. Waiting 2+/1+ hours for a simple reply is unacceptable if you need something really *quick*. And ticket priority setting is not the best idea. (Take a look at Namecheap support)work smart not hard ;)Comment
-
Ok, now about the morons asking why I didn't reply to their ICQ.
Well, first of all, there was a ticket opened. I was refreshig it waiting for the reply. Why in the hell would they ICQ me instead of answering the ticket that is sitting open there. And how the fuck should I know i'm being ICQd? I'm not a psychic.
Second, I had no idea they had ICQ support.
If you go here: http://techiemedia.net and then click here http://techiemedia.net/support.html you can see that ICQ isn't mentioned anywhere there. I thought the ticket system was the way to go.

Can't say I'd be happy there either. According to those logs it took them about 40 mins to make an email. If there's no control panel and you need support for everything, the support better be damn fast 24/7. I know it's just an email address but it shouldn't take anywhere near 40 mins IMO.

I have a box at ISprime and RealityCheck and stuff like that usually takes about 10 mins.
But whatever, shit happens. Jim is saying the box was new, bla bla.
The thing that put me over the edge was 3.5 hours response time to my followup question. And then Jim calling me a liar and basically make it sound like everything was my own fault.Comment

Jim pointed out here that he made me a favor by giving a first month free of charge.
I appreciated that, but it's totally not necessary.
I would rather have the much needed good support / good attitude than something free. I won't go broke by paying that extra month. But exceptional support is what I'm looking for if I'm paying good money for it.Comment

Basically, I made this thread when all hope was lost and I understood I wasn't going to host there. Why would you care if it's normal if you already decided to leave? Are you writing a book?
This is very misleading. Here's a free tip, when trying to create drama and throw someone under the bus, it helps if what you're saying is the unadulterated truth.cause I wasnt fond of ticket system. And looks like I was right about it.
So I created a ticket at Techimedia. Very simple task, add 3 pop3 accounts. I selected Medium urgency.
It's been about 5 hours now. And I just got a reply that says: "Sorry, but login can't contain @."
When you over exaggerate your claims, it makes it look like you have an axe to grind and people won't take your criticism of the company seriously.
You make it seem like your ticket was sitting in the queue unanswered for 5 hours...nobody had looked at it....that's a lie.
You're the one who chose MEDIUM IMPORTANCE, for the ticket. That means the techs on duty will clear out every high importance and critical importance ticket before they get to yours. You are the one who chose to put yourself towards the bottom of the queue, and then bitch because it wasn't done in 5 minutes.
If you didn't come here to bash them, why did you come here? Since you had already decided to leave when you started this thread.
Perhaps now you're willing to admit that this thread was an attempt to start drama and smear a host's name, and not you trying to find out average ticket response times or get your issue resolved?
Well actually Jim calling you a liar happened after you had decided to leave, according to you, so it couldn't have played any part in your decision to leave like you're saying here.
So you were either lying in the first post I quoted, or lying in this one, which is it?Last edited by Snake Doctor; 03-10-2009, 03:35 PM.sig too bigComment

I care because every BRO here had said that their support was exceptional. It wasn't in my case, that's why I asked if those ticket response times were normal.
I didn't want to create drama. It became drama when every BRO including the owner dogpiled on me. It's not my problem that you read thing and perceive them some different way. I never said that the ticked sit there for 5 hours without response. I said the ticked was opened for 5 hours and still not resolved. If you loog up the logs, their response to my folowup question took 3.5 hours. This is very misleading. Here's a free tip, when trying to create drama and throw someone under the bus, it helps if what you're saying is the unadulterated truth. Well, what the fuck? Am I supposed to put in a "CRITICAL IMPORTANCE" for a fucking email setup? I ahd done something like that on another host, and they bitched me out because CRITICAL was reserved for "Server Down". So from then on I've been using appropriate importance subjects.
Now go submit your thumb galleries, stupid troll.

Davey Jones this is pointless to be continuing this. Your original ticket was completed in 40 mins which actually is longer than the typical because of a paperwork error in house here but still was completed in under 40 mins. Then YOU wanted it done in a different manner which is typically not done on linux or unix using the @ symbol in a username. We then gave you some other options in the ticket, as well as sent you icq messages, and you choose not to work with us to resolve the issue but rather to start this thread.
Yes I pointed out that we did give you a free month and waived any contracts and or upfront deposits or security or even any CC on file, so basically we gave you our 100% trust as that is the was we are here. We NEVER want anyone to EVER be unhappy in our Techie family.
Now it is certainly your choice to decide not to continue with us thus you sent that email and we both decided to call it quits, so at this point (as I said in my email) best of luck to you and good bye.
To all of you that came in here to post on our behalf I truly thank you and it is appriciated, however more importantaly we all know the truth, and if anyone ever has any issues with Techiemedia that is not resolved to their satisfaction by any of my staff you know how to get me or Wayne and you know for damm sure we will make it right, (glad that never has to happen..LOL).
Peace out to All.

I don't know what is typical and what isn't. The fact is, I have another box that is running Linux right now, and it has my pop3 usernames set up with @ in them.
You gave me these other options 3.5 hours after I asked if it was possible to set it up the other way. How do you justify 3.5 hour ticket response time? Or is this normal for Techie?
No, I started the thread while I waited for the ticket to get answered. (you can check timestamps on this thread / ticket)Comment

To set the record straight we did not choose to close his account, he wrote an email and told us to close it and in the email he was actually very polite and ended the email with "sorry for the trouble" Not that this is any of your business anyway fris. To be quite honest you used to have a ton of small virtual accounts with us uinder your brother AJ's name. I even used to party with him at several Internext shows, and still he even burned us for a few hunderd bucks, so I am not goining to sweat it if you don't want to do biz with us as the feeling is mutual. Now if you want to man up and pay the debt then that would make things different?Comment
