If you were told you have 6 months to live

How would you spend those six months?

Firstly, I am not sure I would want to know since actually being aware I am about to die is my big fear around death rather than dying itself. However, if I was told that, I think I would fly whoever in my family is still around to the UK and then travel as much as possible with them around the world with my savings until I couldn't any longer.

First, I'd never log on to GFY again.

Second, I'd try to find the best innovative treatment and consult the best doctors worldwide.

If #2 failed, I'd spend time to the close ones, talk to some people, and then I guess I'd try to enjoy every moment.

Here is an interesting story that I think is appropriate for this thread. My wife has a friend who's father one day went for a check up at hospital and was told that he had some form of cancer and had to begin quimo therapy immediately, and that his chances of survival were slim. This man, probably 60 years old or more by then, left the doctor's office and never returned. He lived to be more than 80 without ever seeing a doctor again.

That of course is not a resposible thing to do. But it does make you think.

As for the question, I don't know what I'd do. I'm sure I'd be miserable and wouldn't have a good time and I definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy any trips or anything. I would probably go on a vigilante killins spree. I'd target all scammers, corrupt politicians, thiefs, and rapists.... and try to take out as many as I can before I myself get killed. Fuck, I'd rather not think about these things.

PS: I was just reminded of that movie Joe versus the Volcano with Tom Hanks. It deals with this same subject and is actually very funny.

While it's a great topic that opens the door to answers ranging from sweet to absurd it exposes a greater question as to why people would need a pending death to begin living life to the fullest.

Your life is always on a clock. You have a natural life span spread across four quarters of life. Childhood, young adult, middle age and elderly. You should move forward through life doing the best you can. Many experiences are age appropriate so you try and get as much done as you can before entering the next quarter of life. It's very hard to go backwards and forward is coming fast. Every day counts.

You have an expiration date. Why do you have to know the exact time before living life to the fullest.

i would take my last look around, make any amends i need to make, make sure those close to me know i love them and prepare myself for the great leap.

Not really 6 months is a long time, i think this thread is inspired by a celebrity in the UK who has cancer and using cancer as an example you would be more than able of travelling around the world and doing whatever for most of that 6 months.

Yeah indeed...and she is an annoying celeb at that but it has been interesting the conversations her public nature of dealing with her death has started around the country.

That is why I said I would do that until I couldn't any longer. I know you should live everyday like it is the last but the practical nature of having to save money to pay for your old age,etc keeps that from always being possible. If you know you aren't going to have that to save for I would find it easier to just spend.

Spend as much time with my family and if healthy enough for it travel. I would also do my best to write down as much family history and stories so my kids would have it for the future.

If you were told you could die at any minute and probably sooner rather than later what would you do? Oh and if during that time there was the possiblity of extending your life with various medical procedures but only within a few minutes of an 'medical event' and you never know when a pain/sensation is a medical event or just normal body... what would you do?

I can not stand Jade and I hope that she isn't turned into some sort of icon when she dies. However, that said, the women I know that have suddenly booked in for smears since she went public can't be all a bad thing.
