Great interview. I think its great how he got to explain why he does not think the civil war should have been fought. Its hard for to unlearn what the public school system has taught you for years.

If you understood the job of a congressperson you would realize how fucking stupid that sounded.

The federal government steals money from states via the income tax. It is the duty of the congressperson to get back as much of that money as they can.

I believe one of his bigger earmarks in this bill was to repair a seawall to protect peoples homes. Even though while on the campaign trail he said many times that people who lived near places prone to flooding should either be willing to accept those risks or move.. LOL Typical pork barrel spending politician. But hey, pork barrel spending has been his bread and butter for decades now.

Paul, of Lake Jackson, managed to insert 22 earmarks worth $96.1 million into the bill, leading the Houston delegation, according to an analysis of more than 8,500 congressionally-mandated projects in the bill by the Houston Chronicle.

Read up, educate yourselves, understand what earmarks are.

As Paul notes in his answer, cutting the number of earmarks does not cut spending. An earmark is a congressional provision that directs federal agencies to spend funds already authorized on specific projects. If the funds aren?t earmarked, the agencies can spend the money any way they see fit. That is, the executive branch, rather than Congress, will determine how the taxpayer?s money is spent.

He's having his cake and eating it to thanks to apologists. No matter what people will back up his obvious bullshit. The spin behind Ron Paul is second only to the spin behind Obama.

Take a very close look at his earmark history and you'll find a supposed "Fiscal Conservative" putting a pretty sizeable amount of taxpayer dollars directly into the hands of business interests. Not to the direct benefit of the taxpayer.
