Can color of a car affect price of damage liability?

I've heard that in USA is it common that an owner of a yellow car should pay more in comparison with the others.

    Is it joke?

    Thanks...

Pay for for insurance because they have a yellow car? not true. My last car was yellow and it made no difference in what I paid for insurance.

Some cars have premium paint jobs though that would cost more to paint then a regular car. You can bet if you damage a Porsche you are going to pay more to paint it then if you damage a Honda Civic.

I think red and yellow are more expensive so I heard... not sure thought. Might just be rumors.

I would think it would only differ if you did modifications to your car, not the colour.

it has nothing todo with the price of a car. As the insurance price is based on
the brand, model, type and 10's of other factors. Here in Holland you get a
cheaper insurance if you have a silver metallic color car. The reason for it is
that research have showed that Metallic is the best visible color for a car
under any condition. Silver Metallic coloured cars are substianely less involved
in accidents because of its visibillity. Besides just silvermetallic they have a
ranking based on this for all colors

But I am interested in the USA. I think that it's bullshit that owners of yellow cars should pay more. But I am interested because of a bet

I cant give you info on the US I'm afraid but I know in the U.K black cars are more expensive to insure than white/yellow cars. Something to do with visability and/or likelyhood of theft.

They covered this on Myths, Lies and Just Plain Stupidity. There is no difference in insurance costs between various colors. In fact they said that the percentage of red cars involved in car accidents was less than that of any other color.

I would think yellow and red show up better, therefore are less likely to be in accidents and insurance should be cheaper. Why are firetrucks always Red or Yellow if they didn't show up better that way?
