On the flip side you could join the military, do a 4-6 year hitch and also learn a trade, dunno if they still do it that way, but my uncle and dad both left as certified electricians. I think there are a number of unions(pipe fitters, electricians, curb and gutter, etc.) that do low paying apprenticeships these days as well... granted this isn't a degree, but it is education. however, as with both paths laid out in this thread above, it would require ambition to do something with yourself after that point. Execution, whether you are college educated or not, is everything.
