So the trial of the "Manitoba bus beheader" guy is on this week

And sure enough, defense is playing the "He's not criminally responsible for his actions due to insanity" card.

And it looks like they may be selling it with some success.

Personally I'd be just fine if they took him out back of the courthouse, administered 50 lashes and then hung him. But that's just me, mr take-out-the-fucking-trash-already.

No, better to let the guy off the hook so after 10 or 15 years of useless "therapy" he can be let loose to gut someone else like a fish. Hopefully the victim isn't one of the defense lawyer's kids, how poetic would that be?

why not just sentence him to an asylum for the criminally insane for the rest of his life? If he is truly batshit crazy, I don't think executing him is kosher, but he should never set foot outside a psych ward for the rest of his life.

oh im sure he'll be going to a psych ward but they are never put there 'for the rest of their lives'. they have to say he will be released when he is deamed no longer a threat to others. who knows how they determine that exactly. not to mention budget cuts often mean they ease up on the criteria for letting these guys loose to free up space.

He not only killed the guy, but ate some of his flesh. He also walked to the front door of the bus (which was closed by then) and held up his victim's head to onlookers, and just stood there staring at them... holding up the guy's dripping head.

The question is, does someone like that deserve no punishment for their heinous crime? All that does is set the stage so that other people can murder someone and then claim the same defense. "It's not their fault, they are insane, they aren't responsible for their actions"

Bullshit.

This fuckstick should never see the light of day again. Even if they give him life in an institution (if not prison, which I doubt at this point) it's a crime that he gets to continue to breath the same air as the rest of us. At this point it really isn't about being a deterrent or even punishment, it's about ridding society of a POS that has no redeeming value whatsoever before he has the chance to kill someone else. Who's to say he won't find a way to off someone inside whatever institution they send him to?

I say let him swing, then bury him in a landfill.

I am not a doctor, i dont define what insane or sane is, but the fact is, people that eat other people are very often not insane.

No one here studies killers or cannibals so none of us can diagnos people, however, there are many cannibals in human history and out of them, many are found to be totally sane people. As I showed you, Jeffrey Dahmer, no one said he was insane lol well maybe some, but fact is, he wasnt

The thing is if this guy goes to a psych hospital, gets good with his meds and is deemed "safe" who is going to babysit this guy for the rest of his life to make sure he stays "safe"

I had a neighbor who was severely schizophrenic (which I did not know when I first moved in). After her and her boyfriend broke up she went off her meds and started doing all sorts of crazy shit. Long story short, ended up arrested, and I had to testify to have her put back in the psych hospital. Found out some of her history and learned 3 times before had gone off her meds and in one instance stabbed her own brother and in another threw herself in front of a car. She was fine on her meds but obviously had times when she decided on her own that she didnt need them and thats when she got crazy and violent.

So if they "cure" this guy and let him out in society where is the guarentee that he will never have another episode? The guy is sick but it is criminally negligent IMHO to allow someone like that out on the streets again.
