Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "this is why pilots get paid what they do" because IME, they don't get paid all that much and they do a helluva lot. Are you saying they're paid sufficiently?

Pilots get paid to fly... some get more than others, but he did his job the way he was supposed to. Kudos to him for that and for not panicking like so many others would have.

I fly (small planes), and emergency procedures are what you go over and over and over again. Who gives a shit what is happening when the plane is straight, level and nothing is going on. What will you do when it all goes to hell?

Good for him. He's my new flying hero for a while.
