I bought a Dell and hate the thing. Replaced it with a moster Alienware laptop and hate that thing even more. Got an HP Pavilion and love it. -

Depends what u want to use it for......... I've got a monster savrow (UK) laptop,3.2ghz, 2gb ram, 17 inch screen etc etc....... cost me c$4k....
But the last laptop i bought 3 months ago was a IBM X21 (new/old stock), just for surfing the net on my knee whilst watching tv.... only got about 750k ram and 20mb hard disk and cost me c$200

i am using macs since over 15 years. personally i think they just got better.
and since they switched to intel processors you can also run windows xp on them, if you have to.Comment

That is why I hated the Dell and Alienware. This HP has a Dual Core, so it runs cool, has a 17 inch screen and all the bells I'll need for what it needs to do (i.e. e-mail, web dev, and everyday business stuff). And the thing only cost me $1250 at CompUsa. All my other work such as video editing and encoding is done on desktops.Originally posted by stag44Comment

Ok, for 1000 bucks you will get an used, in warranty, IBM t42p (or 41-43p) on ebay - just go get one. And, in any case, dont buy an Acer.
