been looking over the dell outlet and slickdeals...
comps are cheap these days and im thinking about replacing my p4
any suggestions?
Dell is alright but I wouldn't call them "awesome" and if you don't want to build it yourself... Find a local computer store, tell them the parts you want inside it. Head over to any tech forum and they will probably help you with what would work best for you. I would take their advice over any local computer store if I didn't know what I was buying. Take the list to the local store and there ya go. I'd also ask them to put in a retail boxed HDD not OEM.
You may find a place that will let you pick all the parts so you can just order it. Problem is though HDD are fragile and should only be shipped in the retail box, I would never ship one already inside a PC.
And newegg sucks for hard drives, they only have OEM I believe. That means it's not packaged correctly and there's a good chance it will have bad sectors or just not work. It's strange manufacturers keep selling to sites like newegg when they are reshipping them wrong.
My friend supplies Tiger Direct. He finaly set up his own retail site. (prices are general, if you need something, I can get you nice discounts over whats listed (depending on item)
When I need a deal I usually hit Ubid for a refurb Dell or HP. Running an Alienware as my main system, but they aren't cheap. About to start my first custom build on an Intel i7
