Do you actually care about pagerank??

i see it a lot in mainstream... some dumbass webmaster looking to trade links, actively seeking out pages with higher PR, they'll refuse links from lower PR sites because they think it will hurt their site, LOL.

my first seo project years ago, i was like that too.. but then someone slapped some sense into me and told me to only seek out 1-way links and ignore PR.

once i followed that advice it was smooth sailing... so here's a hint, pr means shit. get 1-way links on sites with few outbounds, related content, and targeted anchor text and you're good to go.

              fuck the PR
I care much more if the site I'm looking to have backlinks on covers the same keywords I target and if I can get a backlink on the index page.

Links from lower PR sites DO NOT hurt your PR .. anyone foolish enough to believe that should start learning how to flip burgers!

(In fact, ANY inbound link can't hurt you .. high PR, low PR, banned or whatever)

If you want high PR, the truly best way to get it is to get a mix of links from relevant, related sites with varying PRs (and IPs, and content, and owners, etc.)
Obviously, a link from a relevant PR6 page will give you more PR help than one from a PR2 page - all other things being equal. The only valid argument for not exchanging links with a lower PR site is that you don't want to leak PR "down" .. but you leak PR regardless of where you link.

link exchanges in and of themselves suck. if i were to ever exchange links with a site it'd only be with the very top sites in the industry.. like a select few of 3 or 4.. and link it off on its own page. otherwise, 1-way's ftw :P

Im more concerned with inbound link count, though i do keep PR in mind.

getting closer.. not only inbound link count, but also the quality of the inbounds.. PR is generally deemed as an indicator of that, but not entirely... i can send a few links from my own unrelated sites to a new site and get it a PR5.. sure, has a nice PR, but gets only like 8 SE hits a day.

and on the same token, send 500 inbounds from shit pages and you're in the same boat.

theres a shitload of factors. PR happens to be one of them, if you think it has no value then you're retarded.
