I personally think its awsome. They are getting the name out there. In addition to the money they paid for the banner on the board, they are getting threads saying I love it or hate it, which is giving the name more exposure. It comes down to making the most of your marketing dollar.
I might have an issue if it was the sounds of some girl having an orgasm, due to the chance of family members being around, but Dukes sound bite is actually amusing. Its not like they are the first sound based ad, nor or they gonna be the last, esp since threads like this just deal with it.Comment

its an annoying one but not the most suddessful IMO:
old chool gfy'ers will remember the FOX DIALER banner - didnt have sound (they hadn't really been introduced back then) but just the red and white flashign candy stripes drove everyone fucking CRAZY - it sure got the most attention
the other one that was hugely succesful was PARACHUTE game banner - it may have belonged to adult.com but im not sure now

To be honest, I will never promote your program because your banner is annoying and intrusive. It grabs your attention, but I hate it so much that I would put it right up there with spyware. There is nothing worse than jamming out behind the PC and accidentally rolling over your banner that wont shut up. I just refresh the page now and hope I never see it again.
You can still buy me a drink though
