    Do surfers know they're surfers?

You see it in many adult program's 1st page, there's usually a link saying "surfers click here for free porn", do surfers know that message is directed to them? Or do they just notice the 'free porn' part and click on it?

I've always kind of wondered the same. Personally, i think it's better to assume every visitor is a surfer, unless they have gone to a dedicated area of the domain (i.e. yoursite.com/webmasters or webmasters.yoursite.com) - that way you don't have to bother with a "question screen", which could potentially loose you some traffic.

That is an excellent question - I think many 'surfers' do NOT know what 'surfers' means. This is an industry (not consumer) term.
