personally, i think the most rational person is the one that can accept that every argument has two sides, that one has to be right and often, both can be right.

its really odd that so many can being consistently and categorically on one side, the same side every single time, often without even hearing or weighing the arguments in any way and then label others who don't see the complex world through their blinders as "sheep"

Yes, i will agree on cuba and venezuala but should they lauch a missile (cuba does not have one) it would be shot down and then as a country they would be screwed. Columbia as a govt is on our side. There was once a day when Republicans stood for less government. Not anymore. Like I've said, Republicans don't even know what they are supporting. The President is more liberal with spending than any Democrat and has put more government into our daily lives than any administration.

I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Which means right now, I'm pretty much fucked. We have a conservative President who isn't conservative, but maintains his backwards outdated social stances.

I know. The GOP used to get alot of stuff right, and several years ago, they were the more reasonable of the two. The GOP has always wanted to enforce "family values" in one way or another which always has not set well with me. But Bush has bridged the gap and made the two parties almost one in the same. He spends and micromanaged like a liberal and wants to put the family values part into break-neck overdrive. It is not a good combination. Its almost like he took everything that was bad about the Democrats, everything that was bad about the GOP, rolled it into one and then shot it full of steroids.

Neither Colombia or Venezuela have the slightest interest in the US and sure has hell they don't "really hate us" If you are basing the "hate" on Chavez verbal - that's him mouthing off in the fashion he always has done. He's also got pissed when Bush started messing in the internals of Venezuela - what leader would not?? But, Chavez sure ain't going to war with anyone - he may appear dumb, but he's smarter than he looks and knows there is no point. He is also not stupid enough to trust George and has made provision/alliances for the protection of Venezuela. (Who knows - but any shit from Chavez which is "incorrect" - there are others ready to straighten him up to reality - without conflict)

As for the people in these countries - they have no interest in conflict - what's the point? They sure don't hate anyone - more that they don't give a shit about the US in the same way they don't give a shit about Iceland.

Bottom line - unless any country messes in the affairs of another - who has any reason to start open conflict? Unfortunately the US has a track record of this activity in both Latin America and on some islands, and, in many ways, tho sounds strange, - the US govt is your own worst enemy (OK - excluding the Middle East problem).
