email dokk and he can tell you anything you want to know. i was (and still am) stressed about internet access. there is a cybercafe run by the hotel, but it is dialup. maybe not a big deal to some of you, but a huge deal to us...

but damn it i am going regardless. if we could get broadband it would mean staying a week instead of a couple of days though

The room rate drops pretty good as people are added. Anybody interested is splitting costs? If not, I will just bring a model along and use the trip as her payment for shoots.

I've been to Jamaica many times and have gone to the Negril Webmaster Gathering the last 2 years since it started.
There is no registration fee to attend the gathering. The registration is just so they know how many people are coming. You just pay for the airfare, hotel ($20 extra a day will get you food and booze), cab or airshuttle between MoBay and Negril (each way is $20-30 for a cab or about $64-130 by airshuttle depending on how many in your party)
Dokk's friend Ragamuffin has a bus this time and will be making trips back and forth picking people up for a cheap price. The airshuttle is quicker but a ride with Ragamuffin is almost worth the trip That dude is whacked!
If you are worried about internet access then you REALLY need this trip. There are several cyber-cafe's but broadband is not a word they know on the island. Most cybercafe's don't even have air conditioning lol
Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen..and use it liberally. The last 2 years we have had plenty of people end up with horrible sunburns. Normal wear is tank tops and swimsuit.. for dinner most people throw on a t-shirt
There are great places to eat all over the beach. Finding 2-for-1 lobster dinners is common. At many places the lobsters have not been out of the ocean for more than a few hours. Very fresh and VERY FUCKING GOOD!
During the day there is snorkeling(they have the gear but bringing your own doesn't hurt), jetskiing, parasailing, lying on the beach, trips into the mountains to the "agricultural" fields, more lying on the beach, and NO FUCKING WORK!
I know Dokk has some good shit planned for this trip. The first year we took a booze cruise on a giant catamaran. Not sure what we are going on this year but it should rock!
We had a cool party at a club on the beach last year. Dokk brought his DJ gear and laser light setup and we rocked the beach. People came from all around to see what the fuck was going on.

That is the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks. The pics remind me of my last trip to Jamaica. It sucked. No offense meant but I was hoping for a good party and I am not sure I will find it there.

What do you consider a good party in Jamaica? I know last time we did not have a single person that did not have a blast. The last day NOBODY wanted to leave.

Good question. I checked out the pics and over half of them were of people smoking out. I do not have a problem with this but since I do not do it myself, I can only assume I would be one of few who were actually making sense. I can only watch stupid behavior for a few hours, not a few days.

A good party also includes cute females and if you have seen many of the pics I post, you will note that they are not wearing much. Again... the posted pics showed nothing like this.

There are good resorts in Jamaica but the pics reminded me of my days back in Vietnam only I can not bring an M-16 and shoot at the locals this time.

I would rather go to TJ than Jamaica but I was hoping the accomodations would be better. I am afraid that this could end up like the island gathering trip and I am not looking forward to being stranded on a broken down bus halfway to the resort.

I may be wrong and if peopla can show me that I am then I will reconsider going. I would love to hang in the carib with a bunch of you but I want to make sure I will enjoy the trip as well.

i can't imagine anyone 'talking' anyone into going to Jamaica. It's easily one of the most relaxing places i've ever been - but you need to go there, not listen to someone say it's great or it sux...

I have been there and I was not impressed. I would prefer Grand Cayman or San Juan. Hell why not Cabo or St. Marten? Jamaica is a shit hole everywhere you turn. I want to relax on a beach and fall asleep in a hammock without worrying about some rastamon snagging all me shit so he can resell it to me around the corner. These people can not afford to wash their clothes but they all wear gold chains? I know gold is cheap there but so is soap and water.

Why is this useless? I have been there and that is my opinion. I was and am still willing to give it another try but from the info I have read and the pics I have seen, I am not sure it is for me. I know what I am talking about.

You do not see a fucked up ratio like that on 3 Mile beach in Grand Cayman.

Aaron - I too have been to Grand Cayman and I saw my fair share of chubby girls there too. I think just about anywhere you go is going to have them. What part of Jamaica have you been to? Ocho Rios and the Dunn's River Falls area is very different than Negril. True the locals are pretty damn poor and basically survive on what they make from tourists, but that is true in lots of resort areas. The hotels in Negril are pretty nice. Maybe not the Venetian, but better than many motels I have stayed at in the US. With the climate there I doubt a nice Vegas style resort could stay nice for long. Way too much upkeep vs. the environment there.
The beaches in Negril are some of the best on the island.
Yes, there is PLENTY of smoking going on in Negril, but what else would you expect there. No smoking in Negril would be like no gambling in Vegas. Just because you are there does not mean you have to do it. There were plenty of people last time who did not smoke. The whole idea there is to have a good time with friends. If you want a trip surrounded by lots of babes that you don't know then try somewhere else. Those of us who do go will get to enjoy each others company in a unique setting
It is definately better than any show in Vegas!

I have gone through Atlanta several times and once I left Oklahoma City and arrived there at 8PM for a 6AM flight the next day. 10 hours at Hartsfield can seem like an eternity. The International section seems like a mile away from the domestic flight gates and after midnight the tram was down for repair. I walked all the way there and then had to walk all the way back later because the food court closed at about 1AM in the international area and I got hungry at about 4AM. Ate and then had to walk back again because the damn tram was not turned back on till the same time as my flight..grrrr.. I was tired as fuck when my flight finally came. Had to do all the walking dragging several big ass bags.

Now I make sure to go thru Houston instead
