Video Rendering Geeks.. what's better clusted rendering or..

I'm putting together a new rendering box, is it better to get 2 $1000 rendering boxes and cnetworking them together to share the rendering, or have 1 $2000 machine rendering a video out?

Which is faster? What's your setup like? Looking at the new intel i7 940 chip.

If you get an i7 cpu you can render almost everything that you want... This setup is fine for video rendering, BUT you have the 8cores (2quad xeons I think) Mac also, but it's a little expensive... Your choice...
      I'm just a newbie.

why "BUT you have the 8 cores" the configs I was looking at were 2 i7's so that's 8 cores
