You obviously don't understand the way the business world works.
This auction has nothing to do with me, or my sig for that matter. I'm simply a vehicle that's creating a high profile buzz around what is in reality a Charity Fundraiser.
That buzz helps encourage companies to make charitable donations, and in return, they receive recognition for doing so.
I use to help the Democration National Committee raise funds for their election coffers. It's EXACTLY the same way such events work in mainstream.
Could someone else have done this? Sure, anyone could have.
At the end of the day, The Free Speech Coalition will have at least $7,000 in their war chest that they wouldn't have had otherwise.
In my book, that's a positive thing.

$10k+ in 60 days for good to the adult community.
More than I've seen come from most in years.

If its such a "great" thing why does it only raise 7k. Looking at it the highest bidder get a lot of publicity. So why no higher bids from the "big" players? Why? Because nobody cares.Don't let greediness blur your vision | You gotta let some shit slide

Most of the "big" players make contributions to many things, including the FSC, and I'm certainly not going to criticize any of them for not getting involved in this particular charity event that I've organized.Originally posted by grumpyIf its such a "great" thing why does it only raise 7k. What charity events a company decides to get involved in, or not get involved in, is certainly up to their discretion.
My BoyAlley persona on here is a flamboyant one, and many companies may simply decide that it doesn't fit in with the way they with to market/brand their image. The list of reasons why some companies choose not to get involved goes on and on, and it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't care about the Free Speech Coalition.
Also, I wouldn't say "only 7k". $7,000 is a good chunk of change that's been pledged so far.
I certainly hope that more companies get involved, and that we see many more bids, but if not, I'll still be pleased with the outcome and appreciative of those that helped to make it happen.Last edited by BoyAlley; 08-30-2006, 01:49 PM.Comment
