I grew up on Vancouver Island in a small beach community. EVERYTHING closed at 5pm.
Have a cut up leg? Too bad, wait till 10am tomorrow.
Need pizza? Too bad, we close at 7pm.
Want to rent a movie? Come in at 11am to get it, we close at 5.
It was unreal. Even liquor stores closed at 5pm.
