Are you aware it's nothing more than a really nice header? Let's say you can overcharge it and ask $500 fo the header alone. Add $350 for the remaining 50-100 lines of code and you're done. The site functionality itself is even simpler than Kubrick or WP default theme. As an example, the latest WP theme I built uses 4 different scripts besides WP, each one with its specific conditional CSS, plus special wp-admin area with full theme manageability, including CSS on the fly, ad management and rotating videos based on specific conditions. Each one of the features I'm mentioning is 10 times more complex that the whole full theme you're mentioning, so really not getting what you mean

As I said, I could do it if I wanted to lower prices, my prices are a little higher for the kind of work I mentioned. Plus, I don't think I need to show you or anyone anything until I decide to since our business plan is absolutely unrelated to your wishes. Besides, you don't need to believe me, I'm not interested in this gig right now and you already said you can't do it for $850 or less so what's the point? Just leave it as it is

I was being sincere when I told him good luck, and that he'd have a hard time finding something like that for $850. I was going to be out of the thread after that.
He said I was fooling myself & then josh came in as well with his normal shit. That's when I came back and didn't play nice anymore.

We do more complicated layouts by default, esp magazine style, multi-style, marketing oriented, multimedia backends, CMS and stuff like that, so, for us, something like that example is really basic, although I gotta admit I love that header and the gfx elementsSo then you're agreeing with me. I'll agree that the majority of the graphic work is in the header. There is still graphic work below the header though. Also, Icons of that quality aren't cheap either (I see 8 icons on there, all of superb quality). The CSS code is also very clean and organized, most people cannot write CSS that clean.just to be clear: I said we'd charge more for something like what I mentioned, which is 10 or 20 times more complex than that. I think we met before
anyway.. quick review of http://thedirty.com/ shows me that the source code of the site totally proves the site's name "DIRTY", its messy with lots of javacript codes, css exctracts inside the source. The code indeed has very little with optimization and the art of xhtml/css. But probably you were reffering just to design..

Congratulations for your creative form to hire creatives, it's really hard to see people using brains for it nowadays, I assure. For a Designer/Design Company, nothing can be more stimulating than it, I assure, after so many years in the design biz. Probably this one is the best thread for WP design I ever saw.

I would suggest a different strategy. One I've used in the past. Use 2 different sources. Get a design coded up from a talented designer first. He doesn't have to know wordpress, how to code it or anything. You might even do a design contest through 99designs.com, a sitepoint marketplace extension.
When you've got the best design you want then send it to someone to slice and code it into WP for you. Someone like htmlburger.com or themeslice or any of dozens you'll find in google.- Free Premium Domain Lists and Tools at Clickmojo.com
