But from a rider to another rider I hope he has a speedy recovery. It's one those things no matter who they are if someone falls we are all brothers. I hope you get well soon and get back to riding!

                                                            hey guys... thanks for all the well-wishes

                                                            The accident happened on Aug 12th.. 17 days ago I think. I have no memory of it or what caused it. Spent a week in the hospital, a few days of that listed as critical in ICU. I dont remember that either. I do remember the last 2 days in the hospital, they said I recovered from the head injury pretty quickly, although not fully recovered yet its still getting better. At least I'm not a veggie laying in bed drooling on myself I do remember my eyes being swollen shut and still have some blood in my left eye but its clearing up slowly.

                                                            Just got a call from my Dr today, my latest bloodwork and the ultrasounds on my liver and spleen look good, finaly dont have to worry about surgery anymore but Dr said three months recovery, no lifting, no bikes, no 'shock' to my torso or I could re-damage everything. Plus 6 to 8 weeks for my broken ribs and collarbone to heal. Most of the roadrash has healed already, wasnt much thanks to wearing protective gear. But one of my gloves did melt to my hand while sliding on the ground and I'm still pulling pieces of it out of my hand.

                                                            I've been on oxygen for the bruised lung but lately I've only needed the oxygen at night so thats getting better. Just some overall stiffness in my whole body which is slowly going away, I'm able to get out of bed by myself now and make it upstairs to the office, but the monitors burn my eyes and make my head hurt after a little while, which is why I havent been on GFY much.

                                                            And for those who want to criticise my choice for riding bikes, thats ok... you're certainly entitled to your own opinions. I've been riding for 26 years and have no intentions of stopping. When I heal up, I'll get another bike and I'll still be riding on the racetracks and touring the countryside, just because its what I love doing.

                                                                    i have owned and ridden sportbikes since 1968 and have never been hurt, although i don't get on a bike without protection.

                                                                    deer do run out in front of you, especially at dusk. many things can happen that you do not expect, irrespective of rider skill.

                                                                    but, there is NOTHING like riding a motorcycle to let you know you are alive, and people that don't ride will never understand it.

                                                                    hate to hear stuff like this.

                                                                                                                    Problems I see with sportbikes is that most of the time:

                                                                                                                    1. The driver has no idea how to drive. I mean, it's not because you took a motorcycle course that you know how to react. You should get a licence for race driving first... because in the end, most sportbikers drive on the public road in a dangerous way without any solid driving skills. Having competition experience let you know the 'limits'

                                                                                                                    Same argument for anyone with a sport car pushing it... I have no idea how they can lose control so easily on a highway in straightline.

                                                                                                                    2. Public road is not a private race circuit. Most of the time you have no idea of the "track problems" before rolling over it. Racers go walk around the circuit to know all the little issues that might cause problem during race. A motorcycle driver pushing to the limit without a clue of what's coming is simply dumb and put himself in dangerous situations.

                                                                                                                    3. A sportbike has no limit. The driver is the limit. This is not always case with custom bikes. I can't turn very fast with my chopper... so I need to respect the limit of my bike, not the other way around.
