dunno if the 700s can, but im 100% sure the blackberry can.

youve got to set it up, and its kinda a learning curve.

but once youve got it set up its fuckin killer. ever been to the airport and they want to charge you like 10 bucks?

fuck that. use my bb and get fasters speeds
want to buy this spot for cheap? it is of course for sale. long term deals are always the best bet. brand0n/ at/ a o l dot commies.

Well I appreciate all the info so far, keep it comming.

But brandOn you by far have given me the best info as far as putting one product over the other for business use. Like you (and most in this biz) I travel ALOT and if I can use the BB as a modem for high speed laptop use on the road then that is AWSUM. Going to check with Verizon to make sure the 700 is not capable of doing that and if so I will start looking towards the BB Verion offers.

                Thanks

Yes. Its an EVDO phone and at least through Sprint, you can use it as a wireless modem if you buy a data plan.

Push Email means that you set up mail accounts, and the mail they receive is pushed to the blackberry. What this means in real-life terms is... you can be wandering around.. grocery shopping, drinking at the bar, etc.. and your blackberry makes a little chime everytime you get an email about a new website signup, or a support email from a client.. or an email from a potential model...
This is not something where you have to start the internet service on your treo, then start the browser, then go to your webmail login page... etc.. the mail is pushed to the device without you doing anything. It works like SMS text messagin, you dont have to check for a new text message, you just get it. and you can respond right from the device as well obviously.

Gmail and Yahoo are pushed in realtime.. pop accounts there is maybe a 5 minute delay. Many times, my blackberry is going off about new gmail before its listed on the gmail webpage.

The IM clients are better too.. its not like loggin into a webpage version of an instant message program - you are actually running an IM client. I tried this on the treo and it sucked. on the BB its no different then being logged in at a desktop computer. Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ, AIM MSN.. everything is supported although some need third party software.

Google maps on the BB can stream traffic conditions in realtime and overlays them on the map. I'm not sure if the Treo can do this...

and of course its got a calendar, and alarms, address books weather programs etc...

For me, the BB is one of those things that once I got it.. I dont know how I ever lived without it.

the BB is about connectivity. You can be anywhere and be online with email and IM and web access.

Seems like the only thing left for me to do is go to VERIZON and make sure the 7130e mode BB is as good a product as the 8700 you all are in love with!

i'm more & more convinced daily that i should have gotten a blackberry instead of the treo. the pics/video capability are *ok*...the quality of those is *ok*....but the internet surfing sucks and mine freezes randomly and i have to hard reboot it - this is my second one. just carry around a little snapshot camera with video function for your 4yo - it'll look better anyhow. i think i'm going to go get a blackberry now. thanks for this thread niko you know i've been wondering the same things!

also - - baddog just told me about his verizon PCI card that he can just stick in his laptop anywhere and have internet. if that's what you want that verizon card might be worth looking into.

                                  Check this out: http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/E70

I've gotten mine yesterday and it fuckin rocks.

It's actually smaller and lighter than I've thought it would be... typing on it is fucking fast and sooo easy. Best feature though is WLAN for fast email, browsing, VoIP etc. way too much to describe, it's GREAT!

Getting the 2GB miniSD-card hopefully tomorrow and the pocket Bluetooth-GPS addon is ordered, too... no more getting lost, ever

o yea.. the blackberry dont have a camera.. dont do vids, dont have all the cool little cartoon chars on it like the sidekicks.

in other words, its kinda geared for biz. not kids in highschool.

But the 700 s available with palm OS also. But everything I am hearing is the the Treo has issues with Palm OS and does not with the Windows OS.
The palms are 100x more navagable\stable than the windows OS in my experince. I have the 700p and love it.

I also like treos a lot better than blackberries but maybe it's just me. BTW Treos can also surf use aim msn icq etc.

My personal stance is if you get a treo get the P, and assuming your carrier is sprint it should have much better internet stability if you upgrade to teh biz connection as well (I can't vouch for any other carrier).

I have the 8700 g and edge network is slow, worse than aol.

Bb users do u have ur webmaster@
Adress set up in ur bb and I'd so did u do it with the desktop redirector ? I can't figure it out. What about gmail???

Also if u check ur mail at ur desktop will the bb know that u already read it or will it still send u the mail?

For example if I confirm gal submissions on my pc I don't want those mails also sent to my bb.
