That thing looks brilliant.Originally posted by dstaff
Man, I love the fact that not everybody loves it. For once, it's actually going to be a fairly rare sight.
444bhp 4L Magnesium / Aluminum lightweight V8? Rear wheel driven with the M-differential, and an aluminum based construction for light weight a la the Corvette Z06? Fucking awesome.

M3's also have 4 tail pipes. All M cars do. The body itself is just a standard 3-series coupe. The real M3 should have bigger flares, the grills, and the front air intakes.Originally posted by bdjufM3s have grills on the side... this one is just an overdignified 3 series

Since when do BMW and "light weight" go together? That shit is gonna be heavy as fuck. Just look at the curb weight of the standard base model 3-series... Nearly 3600lbs. Z06 is almost 500lbs lighter.Originally posted by XLCowBoy444bhp 4L Magnesium / Aluminum lightweight V8? You said it yourself: standard 3 series. All the M-models are always lighter than their standard counterparts. The standard cars use mostly a steel alloy construction. It's cheaper and easier to make. The M-models are built at the BMW M motorsport division in Germany, because the aluminum construction needs quite a bit more TLC to build.Originally posted by CheeseFrogSince when do BMW and "light weight" go together? Also, there are only three letters you need to remember: C-S-L. When the CSL version of this M3 is released, it'll be rockin'. Aluminum construction, with a lightweight aluminum/magnesium engine, cranked up for more horses, and with all the "fat" trimmed off (sound proofing, creature comforts, speakers, even the bootfloor gets replaced by cardboard!), you'll be looking at one hell of a sleeper car.
I like the Z06 too, but it's just a wee bit showy for my tastes. I prefer sleeper cars that go faster than they look, like the Maserati Quattroporte, or the CSL M3's.
