talk about toxins finding their way into the food chain. If we don't take proper waste disposal seriously, things like that will be a commonplace.

"The highest level of contamination found in the study (http://www.ehjournal.net/content/8/1/2) was 0.57 micrograms of mercury per gram of HFCS. The EPA says that an average-sized woman should consume no more than 5.5 micrograms per day of mercury, meaning that the average American consumer may be eating five times the upper safety limit of mercury every day due to high-fructose corn syrup consumption if they consume the foods tested in the study.

      ...

The lead author of this study, Renee Dufault, used to work for the FDA. In fact, she investigated the use of mercury at chlorine plants, where the manufacturing process results in the chlorine being contaminated with mercury. With chlorine being dumped into the public water supply, this is obviously a health concern.

Renee Dufault retired from the FDA last year. Only now, nearly a year after her retirement, has she dared to release her findings about mercury and high-fructose corn syrup."

PS I advise everyone to watch the movie King Corn. (much better than super size me).

BTW if your concerned about mercury, seriously watch your fish intake.

Everything has high fructose corn syrup in it. Next time you're at the store, check out the label. Hell, i had a very very hard time finding bread (fucking BREAD of all things) without it. It's getting easier now as more companies are getting rid of corn syrup, but the past few years have been incredibly tough...

I make it a point when shopping to avoid it in ingredient lists when shopping. Oddly I do buy corn syrup on occasion yet that does not contain HFCS - go figure. What is pretty damn funny though is that the FDA has sided with the producers and say that HFCS is natural, just like honey. - also why the producers have a massive ad campaign going on right now.

There are so many things in the US food supply that other countries have outright banned.

                Nothing surprises me.

The insertion of high fructose corn syrup into products is resulting in obesity and health risks and should be moderated further, if not just for this reason alone.

HFCS will be banned within the next 15 to 20 years. It's terrible for your health. Thanks you loving government for it's widespread use (sugar tariffs and corn subsidies)...
