"HOW to SURVIVE a HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE"

I got this in a email and thought I would share

"HOW to SURVIVE a HEART ATTACK

    WHEN ALONE"...

    Since many people are alone

when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating

    improperly and who begins to
feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left

    before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves

by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.
A deep breath should be taken before each cough,

    and the cough must be
deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum

    from deep inside the chest..!!

A breath & a cough must be repeated

    about every two seconds

without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart

is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs

    plus coughing movements squeeze

the heart & keep the blood circulating
The squeezing pressure on the heart

also helps it regain normal rhythm.
In this way, heart attack victims

can get to a hospital. Tell as many
other people as possible about this.

It could save their lives..!! "

Good advice to post on this board full of fatties who are at risk for Heart Attacks. I'm not leaving myself out of that risk pool either.

?The American Heart Association does not recommend that the public use this method in a situation where there is no medical supervision.?

?It can be dangerous for someone having a heart attack that does not result in cardiac arrest.?

haha! Every time one of my friends forwards me an e-mail, worried about something they read I just tell them to go to snopes. Surprisingly they were right about one thing in an e-mail spam message against the dangers of paper shredders. Started to leave mine unplugged after I read what damage they can do to animals and kids.

                                                        1. Chew some aspirin (about 4).

                                                        2. Drive yourself to Emergency Room.

                                                        3. If you're lucky, you'll make it.

                                                          correct.

and if you are a long distance bicycle rider over say 50 this is a good idea also.

baby chewable is best for emergencies, about 6 of them at once.

You've had a heart attack, or someone you know? How is your health (or theirs) compared to now afterwards, what all did they have to change in their lifestyle? Reason I ask is someone close to me just had a mild heart attack and isn't quite sure of their limitations. I tried doing the research but keep getting a lot of frivolous answers.

haha I told this to my gf who is practicing to be a nurse, and it made her think, she told me she don't think that would help one bit.. that your suppose to go into a comfortable position "semi fowler position" to ease your breathing and to calm down the heart.

asprin can reduce the effect of the heart attack but may not help at all.

They cannot do math in their heads (hey, I?m no math whiz, but then again I?m not ODing people by giving them too much meds either!). Last time I had a serious problem (got really bad strep throat) the doctor ?added up? in his head wrong, was going to give me triple the prescribed dosage. Another doc there tried to prescribe me some med with penicillin in it after repeatedly telling the fucktard I?m allergic to penicillin? I don?t have any faith in the docs here, trying to do a bit of research to help my friend out so the doctors don?t kill em next time he gets a check up *_* Thx again.

Cummins, Seattle's director of emergency cardiac care, explains that cough CPR raises the pressure in the chest just enough to maintain some circulation of oxygen-containing blood and help enough get to the brain to maintain consciousness for a prolonged period. But cough CPR should be used only by a person about to lose consciousness, an indication of cardiac arrest, he cautions. It can be dangerous for someone having a heart attack that does not result in cardiac arrest. Such a person should call for help and then sit quietly until help arrives, he says.
