There's only one condition - you can not invest them, give them away, or donate them, you'll have to spend them on something that you really like and enjoy.

I'd do one of the two:

1.Go to Mozambique and live there for a year, lie on the best beaches in the
World, eat prawns 24/7, and bang as many black and colored girls as I can.

2. Go to India and live there for a year, see as much of the country as I can, and bang as many Indian girls as I can.

Doubt there is time to waste sqaundering money.

If pushed, and this is self-indulgent and a pleasure - also where a mill is peanuts. I'd assemble a crew and make a totally non-commerical documentary highlighting poverty, starvation, lack of medical and educational resources - down to an individual level. Not forgetting slave labor, human trafficking, child abuse. (Neither poverty or child abuse is an exclusive to "foreign countries") The purpose? To draw attention to real problems instead of inane debates over abortion, gay marriage blah and educate the fatass's to release how the thinass's live.

I have a buddy that moved down there...bought a nice chunk of land for $15k and built his own bamboo house on the property. He lives there now with his wife and two kids, and loves life

Totally different story Jace when you are talking about buying land and then constructing - that is well-possible with Len's mill

Totally cool place to chill out in the "real Costa Rica" and could hardly be a better place to bring up kids (tho check the education locally).

Sure.. used to sell plots at $15K (and more or less, depending on the volume), but that has changed a lot and land on the Pacific side is increasing 50%/year now (has been for a few years) and more likely to be around $100/sq meter now.. depending. If you seriously are thinking of that - move in asap and grab a patch, - it's still increasing at 50%/annually and safe to say that will continue for the next 4-5 years. A no-brainer

Construction costs vary, using local materials and going for the "rustic look" - around $25-35/sq ft. For a home constructed to North American standards - anywhere between $55-$65/sq ft. Construction generally is an utter pain in the ass and helpful if you have good contacts in govt and local council.
