um....many people get out of the army....
some people "automatically" don't go to the army including
arabs and the ultra religious don't do the army (the druze do go to the army)
I know tons of people who faked illnesses, pleaded some form of insanity, got married or told them they were pacifists to get out...then those people who joined the army and got out before their conscription was over by faking injuries, or just flat out saying that "they quit"
It's very much a part of the culture to go to the army and many jobs are not available to you unless you are in the army...but you don't HAVE to go to the army
I lived in Jerusalem and then Tel Aviv for awhile....got to know a lot of people and speak the language...thank goodness I don't live there anymore though!
