now it looks like every other site with "Verdana" font and boxed sections. honestly it really isn't worth the time to update your whole site and you just made those small changes. everything else looks practically the same with your old site..

The next step would be, restyle the code! Start using XHTML with CSS and a non-tabular layout. That would improve the loading time of your site, the server load, save money and keep customers happier!

Great idea to get feedback from the general community as well as your advisors. However, so much of the advice you get is going to be contradictory as everyone has a different point of view. Because so much of it is speculative you could be leaving a lot of money on the table.

With as much traffic as you have, it's worth quantifying, testing & optimizing whatever changes you make.

Even a small percentage of increased 'performance' (bookmarkers, return visitors, clicks etc) will result in serious ROI.

You could test everything from fit & feel (different icons, sizing, layout, fonts etc) to elements (bookmark us, dropdown etc).

By tracking the performance of each test segment you will be able to determine what really is making a difference and not have to go entirely by 'feel'.

In essence you filter the feedback down to the most cost effective changes you think are most likely to help. Then you test & refine.

By assigning your visitors to a 'version' of the site, and tracking on an ongoing basis you will get to see not only the immediate, but also the long term effect on your audience.

Then you use the best performing version for the bulk of your traffic keeping some visitors in your 'test groups'.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Even if you aren't going to do testing & optimization I would suggest that you structure whatever design you go with to use CSS instead of tables.

Not only will it make it easier for you to change look/feel/layout without any time you like, but also it gives you much more flexibility with what you can do with your data.

I actually like the new one. The colours (not the background since it is the same) that were used are very relaxing. Like in the top logo and in the tables below. As for the new layout of the tables I like it..
