The inner key is for emergencies. When you plug the key into the socket, it recharges, but just in case you don't use the key for 3 months (i.e., it's your spare) and the batteries go flat, you can still open your car using the inside key, and then it'll start charging again once you've plugged it into the car.
To the chap the made the bimmer comment about it breaking down. Mercedes has the worst reputation amongst the Germany luxury automakers with regards to reliability actually.

Thats fuckin awesome. I have faith in BMW. They finally decided to go turbo and im sure they will do it right. I cant wait. According to the dealer, they will offer white leather interior. Im planing on getting white on white
This will be my 3rd 3 series. I cant wait to drive this car. It should be an amazing drive. And since its turbo, it should be fairly easy to modify.

oh and 6 months from now Honda Civics are going to have keyless entry. It's the chain of command.
My brother has a 2001 Mercedes-Benz CL500 with keyless entry and push button start...and its not a key..its a credit card. You figure that car was made in 2000 and planned in 1999. So it took 8 years for the shit to finally flow down the river and hit your little cute 3 series.

The Concours from 97-99 is my favorite new age Cadillac.. It's sexy looking and has the same 300 horsepower as the STS but limited to 130mph. Actually most STSs are limited to something around that as well but mine is Z-Rated.
