Up untill around the 3rd century A.D astrology was taken very seriously by many enlightened people in the middle and far east, ( there's even evidence to suggest that the "three wise men" who attended the birth of Jesus Christ were in fact Persian astrologers - even the traditional nativety scene of J.C being born in a manger is in fact a coded reference to his real birthday of July 27th if you know how to read it
).
From the 3rd Century A.D onwards the Roman Catholic Church went to extraordinary lenghts to supress the practice of astrology so that - "Man may never again be permitted to define his future by the stars" - Augustine - so there's little wonder there is so little of the original wisdom of the early astrologers still around today. However what has survived does IMHO form a very compelling argument to suggest that we do in fact know so very little about what makes this planet of ours really tick.Laughing Out LoudComment

The prediction stuff is ridiculous (if every Leo suffered from gall bladder problems in the same week it would make international headlines)... but some of this extensive "character" description is downright creepy and accurate... though maybe if someone pasted "Cancer" at the top of a "Leo" descripto, maybe projection would work its wonders and I'd say "Damn, that's spot-on!" too...

Western charts (there are many forms of astrology and Chinese astrology and numerolgy are also vert indepth) done properly ie a natal chart requires the moment of birth and longtitude and latitude of where the person is born to be taken into account - the general shit in the papers is for the sheep who lap it up and buy lots of magazines, newspaers and call astrology phone services.
For the record I have a lot of respect for Vedic astrology also.
I still believe that it's all about how you use it.
Fate may give you a good or bad hand of cards relatively, yet you can play a bad hand well and a good hand poorly.
