      You can just use something like

      extract($_GET);

      then in the value fields of your html code put <?=$passed_field;?>

      That is if I'm understanding you properly.

        Hmm dont think we are on the same level

        here is the code for for Internet radio personality of the year
        Code:
        <input type="text" id="internetradio_y" name="internetradio_y" value=""
        i want to do something like when the click www.southernentawards.com/vote.php?id=internetradio"text to put in field"

        and when they click that link it has the internet radio persnality of the year field already filled in with my "text to put in field" quote

        remember this is NOT my site so i cant edit anything server side

        was wondering if there was away to just pass info along thru the URL to the form fields

            Ahh, well that's a horse of a different color. What you might try to do is setup a form on your site to post to their page. Either that one, or wherever that script posts to. Try filling it out a few times so it has errors to see what happens. If it kicks you back and the fields are already filled in than it should work. They may not even allow or turn on parsing of POST/GET on a voting page, as it is easy to get around.

              the name is the variable so southernentawards.com/vote.php?id=internetradio should be

              southernentawards.com/vote.php?internetradio=stuff

              <input type="text" id="internetradio_y" name="internetradio_y" value="stuff">

                              I'm sorry but I am confused as to how someone can even exist in this industry without knowing how to pass a variable. How can you operate on a day to day basis not knowing what the very first example in most php books is?

                              I'm not saying everyone needs to be a professional programmer, but come on.

                                  I was kind of thinking the same thing. It really helps your position greatly to know some of this basic stuff.

                                  I have a few "starters" who are still asking dumb html questions even.

                                    every programmer had experienced this kind of situation... especially when you're just a newbie... asking question is the best way to learn... but for me i google it...
