I know that i'll have to incur a comission fee because the cheque is in a foreign currency, but it shouldn't be too bad - my cheque is for $35 anyway, i was just saying that it is possible to get a $5 cheque; although you can set the limit higher if you wish.

Yeah I wasn't trying to piss on your parade or anything testpie, just bringing it to your attention in case it had been overlooked.

With some banks it is just not worth cashing in small cheques.

Ah my first check... Those were the days that you still got paid per click and you didn't have to worry about any conversions...

Anyway, getting that first valuable piece of paper in my mailbox surely was a pleasant surprise!

However, beware dude...

My Dutch bank steals at least half of those $35 if I would cash a tiny foreign check like that and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same kind of situation with U.K. banks.

They explained to me the high charges are because of "the massive fraude with foreign checks and because there is a lot of work involved processing checks like this". Yeah right...

Since I don't work to fatten the ass of my local bank employees, I prefer to let checks grow to AT LEAST $100 or - even better - you can try to promote sponsors that pay weekly without any minimums trough ePassporte (like AdultElite or PimpRoll). Over the whole year it'll saves you hundreds of Dollars in check processing fees from your greedy local European bank.
