I took a few old TVs, printers, computer cases and whatnots to Good Will, which they just threw into bins. Instead of paying to take it off my hands, I got a blank donation receipt and all that stuff will probably end up in China toxifying some small village regardless.

We have a very large recycling ten miles from my house. They make money off of this, yet they want me to pay them to recycle stuff. Fuck that shit. I take my cardboard to the library where they take it for free, and it benefits my local library. For cans, plastic, newspaper, and glass - I have bins for those and once a month we take a trip to the a local recycling center.
We usually walk away with $50 a month for our shit. Half of it we give to our daughter, whom we take out shopping directly after the trip to the recycling center. The other half goes into a bank account for her.
Let's see - I can spent $30 a month for them to haul it away, or I can make $50 a month off of it.
Isn't that just stupid?
