As for the drinking, a lot of us A.D.H.D. types also tend to be substance abusers...so I just threw that in to be safe. Keeping your condition under control with the right meds does help to avoid abuse of other substances for most.

I don't know what you've taken, but if it was Ritalin...anything is better than that. I can recommend Adderall (regular, or extended release) and this new one seems to be very similar.

If you have a good doctor who is aware of your overall health, you should be fine with whatever they prescribe...but be sure to let them know of any side effects you experience, because often something as simple as a dosage change or taking the med with food can change them for the better.

Bottom line is, don't let fear keep you from getting the treatment you need.
