Several possibilities

The cat may have activated one of the 'ease of access' features in Windows, such as 'sticky keys' (seriously, that's what it's called). Go into Control Panel, and under 'ease of access' or 'accessibility options' depending on version of Windows, check to make sure these options are not activated. (They can be accidentally activated by hot-key combinations).

Also, you can check under the keyboard listing to make sure that kitty hasn't changed your default keyboard to Dvorak or French or something like that.
