Some dude lost like 50k worth of diamonds as they couldn't locate the package.it disappeared from one of their processing plants and they basically said to him too bad.He didn't get any compensation
I am feeling the same way. I have sent a parcel via USPS, but it hasn't delivered yet. It has been taking a for more than 1 month. What a shitty postal service!
I send out packages with no signature requried and no insurance every day for my mainstream site. I do this to make it easier for the customers and in the long term I believe it costs me less. Knowing this, in the rare instance that a customer calls me and says their package was delivered, but they didn't get it I ask them to:
1. ask their neighbors. 9 times out of 10 they find it
2. call me back if they don't
in the extremely rare case they don't find the package I ship a new one and eat the cost.
Again, I don't mind doing this because I saved on the insurance on every package I sent.
That being said, perhaps the company you ordered from works the same way. Why don't you try calling them before doing a chargeback?

i called them but it is a bunch of red tape bullshit, i even payed for overnight delivery. it is from armani, and i had it shipped to my buddies place in DC who lives in a wide open apartment complex.
i am going to give them a week and if nothing i am charging it back i dont fart around with peoples stupidity. you have to be insane to leave a $500 package sitting out in the open. i have never seen or heard of that before.
you might as well not even try to deal with fedex... they're a bunch of shit heads and unless the package was insured you're a waste of time for them. Deal directly with the merchant and if they fuck you around... CB
I know a UPS driver who lost a package worth 10K, a diamond ring was in it. He did not want to lose at the time a 60k a year job...so he paid out of his own pocket the 10k to UPS...since they had to pay the guy who had that package insured for that amount.
We have all kinds of problems with UPS, USPS, and FedEx at my job....the problem is in this country (USA) some employees suck...we want to work less and make more money...and really suck at customer service...and at doing our jobs.
I still love America...but when I have to spend a half day buying a couple of things...in home depot and best buy something is wrong. People working at these stores were clueless, no customer service at all........short these stocks if you own them. At best buy i knew what i needed a USB flash drive...and i am standing there looking at it locked up...asking everybody if they can get that for me. Oh I have to call this guy he has the key, etc, etc. From now on I am just going to research the item I need...and buy it online. I bet the guy who said you should get this one did not know jack.
basically, they should have insured the package. Most places as mentioned above offer the $100 minimum but it usually only costs $0.10 per extra $100 of coverage so it would have cost the $0.40 to insure that thing. If they failed to do so then it is really their loss. You could charge it back, but you are probably better served by having them send you a new order.
On a side note, I would have never pegged you as an Armani type of a guy.

You hit the nail on the head there. I've been getting increasingly frustrated with the stupidity of Americans and their ability to get away with being useless.
There's a reason your companies are folding. You pay lazy negros $12 an hour to talk shit to you and give you lip when you want to buy a Wii. Great business plan.
