Think about this for a second.
If your argument for not signing up webmasters is that you are creating your own competition then you are thinking very small.
For instance if a sponsor is fairly new/unknown then it would be in your and others best interests to sign up as many webmasters as possible so that you can get a small slice of a soon to be bigger pie (assuming the sponsor is good).
If you can capture 5-10% of many webmasters sales then does it really matter if more people are promoting the program?
Besides, even if someone signs up with you it doesn't mean they are going to promote the sites or make much money with them, thereby reducing overall competition.
You also never know if one of your referrals will be a person that sends a lot of sign ups. That means less work for you and more passive income.
