    Do innovative galleries sell?

Hi all. I used to design my galleries mainly in html with minimal photoshop. I finally decided to take the plunge into using 90% photoshop for galleries. Here's the second one I came up with using photoshop. Took me 2 hours or so. It's not completely finished.

My question is, do well designed (lots of graphics etc.) galleries sell better, worse, or just as good as average galleries? Let me know what you're experience with various galleries was. Also give me some pointers on my gallery. Thanks.

        To answer your question:

A good design can easily turn an ordinary site into a cash cow. But good design is more than just eye candy, it's also having the right UI, making it extremely accessible, easy to read, and should provide the viewer a unique "experience" (i.e. your site is the only one that looks the way it does, it hasn't been copied from anywhere)

It can go both ways.. When I was still in the tgp gallery submitting stage I made my biggest hits with the worst designs. For some reason it gives the visitor the idea that the website that is promoted is cheap and dirty ??
But on the other hand with certain fetisches like babe and feet I've made more with the better lookin galleries.. So in the end its all about giving it a try!

Well, I really like your design but from my experience design in general is highly overrated.

The first thing I try to do is to put myself in the shoes of the visitor. Someone who is surfing the web for porn wants to find stuff that gets him off. My husband always says "if it doesn't give me a hard on it probably won't give most other guys a hard on either." No design, as far as I know, has ever given someone a hard-on. Content does, though.

Design can add to a page and create a certain "aura", but design can never make up for a lack in content. For, lets say, a goth page design might be more important than for a "Housewife Sally sucking dick"-page, but after all it's teh content.
Look at some ot the busiest TGPs or amateur paypages on the web. Their design is often amateurish.

I personally get at least 3 e-mails a week from guys who want to redesign my amateur pages. Their design is indeed amateurish, but so is the concept. They do, however, make more than several pro pages I own.

Jenny pretty much hit the nail on the head. Great design can turn a sloppy page into into something that makes money, but the surfer wants to buy content, and if your content is rubbish, then no amount of design can make up for that.

TGP's are something else though. You can't really blow people away with TGP designs since all people are looking at are previews of content, rather than a whole adult online experience. Playboy for example, could never live with a shite site design, because their content is supposed to be considered "quality", and not run-of-the-mill stuff.

So yeah. Although I do feel that all sites need a properly thought out and designed user interface, the theme of the design needs to match the content.

My only response to Jenny would be when she said that some of her amateur pages make more than some of her pro pages: it would be short sighted to pin all that down to design. A lot of factors can come into play, such as purchasing price, the content itself, promotion, market demand, and market supply.
