Of course it isn't the real deal. No experience necessary, part time, average pay of $150k, no apparent education requirements.

Now, consider that it's an existing, developed industry. With a decent amount of experienced competition.

To bring in that average pay of $150k, going by a 10% success fee commission and excluding the company's share, an agent would have to broker $1.5 million of transactions. However, considering the company's share, you're looking at a rather larger volume. Let's say, $3 million (could be a million more or less).

At an average price of $250k per business, that's one sale a month. It doesn't sound like much, perhaps, but take into account that you're up against more experienced competition, that you start without valuable contacts, that you start without knowing the local market, etc.

Business brokering is certainly a field where, with experience, you can make a six figure salary relatively easily. However, the original post is a blatant lie. Especially in the beginning, it will be anything but "effortless", it will most certainly not be "part time", and hitting that $150k in your first few years in the field is unlikely.

A realistic view of what to expect: the first few years, you'll be working your ass off for relatively little money, hearing "no" until the very word makes you sick, and networking until you develop RSI from all the handshakes.

You'll need to be keenly aware of the local market and its movements, you'll need to build up an extensive network of potential buyers and sellers, and you'll need to gain an intimate knowledge of the types of businesses you mainly focus on.

Summarized:
Is there money in it? Hell yeah.
Is it as easy as described by RayVega? Hell no.
