A good idea is an immobilizer system. You disable it (so you can turn on the engine) by a series of little switches and settings, e.g. Lights on and right blinker set. If somebody shorts the car and tries to ignite without these switches set correctly the ignition would block itself for X minutes.
Helps against newbie car jackers. Of course, if they tow your car in the first place this won't do anything.Comment
