AOL users - Your privacy has been exposed

When everyone was worried about what Google can do with our search log AOL
decided to release the data to everyone at their own will. As stated on TechChurch a 500MB archive containing 20M search records from over 500k aol users was available for download from AOL?s site.

To protect user?s privacy AOL usernames were replaced with a unique id, the problem here is that even with this protection messure you can still find all searches a user has done and with a bit of skill you can match usernames to the ids provided by AOL.

BTW this "AOL search data" is actually Google search data since AOL search is just rebranded. Whether AOL users are anything like everyone else on the net is another matter
